Blue Arrow at Google Instant Search

I’ve noticed the blue arrow which is showing next to the listings in Google’s search results. It’s one of the keyboard navigation system that Google rolled out for Google Instant Search this week.

Today morning I saw them for the first time. It maybe there since Google’s update earlier this week, and I didn’t notice. I maybe part of a broader rollout. But look below for closer look.

Notice that there a blue arrow next to the Google search result:

Blue-Arrow-At-First

It can be moved by using your keyboard navigation keys. Below you can see how I’ve moved down to the fifth result in the same search.

Blue-Arrow-At-Fifth

Arrow is also appearing at Google sponsored links. If they are at top of the organic search results:

Blue arrow is not appearing next to the OneBox-style listings:

OneBox-style

It senses rather unknown to me.Google Instant Search is already focusing so much care on whatsoever is at the top of the page. This blue arrow is looks like overkill that. But pushing the keyboard navigation keys, having some type of indicator to help you know where you are in the search results page is making sense. And just press enter key if you want to open the arrow indicated listing from the search results, you

don’t want to use your mouse to click on it.

If you find any other feature at Google Instant please feel free to comment here.

Is Google Ignoring The Title Tag in SERPs?

Previously, the same topic has been discussed when Google started using anchor texts from ODP (Dmoz.com) as Title tags in SERPs. Later on Google provided NOODP tag option to webmasters to overcome this update. <meta name=”robots” content=”noodp”> Adding the above NOODP tag is to inform Google not to use any of the text links from ODP as Title tag in SERPs. After this implementation Google will start showing your actual page titles in SERPs. Google always satisfies by providing best results to its users. In this queue a long waited URL shortener feature ( goo.gl ) is opened to the public today. In previous days email was the only way to share our knowledge, URL’s of any interesting article, websites, etc... After Twitter came the online usage increase a lot and it changed the people’s lifestyle.  Since Twitter limited web users to publishing not more than 140 characters, URL shortening services have continued to populate the web space. The first url shortener was tinyurl.com and since then others such as bit.ly, is.gd, ow.ly, tr.im, South Africa’s (gatorurl.com), Facebook’s (fb.me), StumbleUpon’s (su.pr), Youtube’s (youtu.be), Friendfeed’s (ff.im), Sturvs’ (go.sturvs.com) amongst others. Today (Sep 30, 2010), Google launched their URL shortener service to the public. And its expecting to be a best URL shortening service around the web. In my next post, I
